Budget panelThe budget panel contains information regarding the current condition of the budget. To see a sample game screen with the budget panel open, click here.
In the upper half of the panel you will find the current values of budget deficit,
national debt and the ratio of national debt to GDP.
If you click the “chart button”
on the left side of a variable name,
you will see a chart depicting the values of the chosen variable from the last twelve months.
The values on the chart, like the ones in the table, are all nominal.
The lower half of the panel contains a table, that shows the current and planned balances for all policies. It also contains a current and planned total balance. The current total balance is basically budget deficit with an opposite sign - if the budget deficit is positive, the balance is negative and vice-versa. The planned balance of a policy will change if you modify this policy using the policy editor in the policies card.
The knowledge of the planned total balance, i.e. the planned budget deficit is especially important after exceeding the maximum allowed ratio of national debt to GDP, which is 50%. Then, you will have to modify the policies in such a way, that the planned total balance is positive, or at least, is not negative. If you fail to comply with this requirement, you will not be able to end the current turn and continue the game.
